“Objetos de resistencia”
A collection put together by Fabien Cappello
The exhibition has a dual purpose: to introduce the public to
Mexican everyday objects and to present a collection that reflects
a particular economy that is at odds with the global neoliberal
market. Indeed, these objects do not seek to create necessities but
rather to provide specific solutions to existing, specific, common
and cultural needs. They resist the imposition of a homogenous,
globalised world where we no longer know how, where, and by whom
what we buy is made. Through this collection, Fabien invites us
to question our relationship with the systems of consumption.
The exhibition “Objetos de Resistencia” is conceived as a journey
of discovery by inviting the visitor to question the meaning,
the utility, the design and the provenance of this heterogeneous
collection of objects without the greed of the buyer but rather
with the naive and sincere point of view of a spectator.
