Joséphine Zitta is a Brussels based artist working across jewellery, sculpture and object making.

Her practice begins with collecting. Personal objects, toys, keepsakes and fragments gathered over time become the starting point for new forms. Through casting, these familiar objects are transformed, preserving their traces while giving them another life.

Working primarily with aluminium and bronze, Joséphine explores the tension between the intimate and the monumental, memory and material, precious and ordinary. An object once held in a hand can become a sculpture, a piece of jewellery, or part of an entirely new composition.

Her work moves freely between functional objects and sculpture. What connects them is an interest in the emotional value we attach to things, and in how an object can carry a story long after its original purpose has disappeared.
