Founded in 2013 by French artists and designers Apolline Couverchel and Gauthier Haziza, Studio Élémentaires explores movement and light through a poetic and theatrical lens. Rooted in the performing arts, their practice transforms environmental motion into sculptural works that blend technology with craftsmanship. Light is their central medium, shaped into kinetic compositions that evoke presence, rhythm, and pause.

Their creations do not imitate nature but isolate its gestures, reinterpreting them into luminous, dynamic objects that sit between cultural artifact and functional sculpture. This unique approach results in a signature aesthetic that feels both neo-archaic and contemporary, grounded in material precision yet emotionally resonant.

Major commissions include collaborations with Chef Paul Pairet, a carte blanche project for Hermès-founded Shang Xia in Shanghai, and interior pieces for Hotel de Crillon’s Nonos & Comestibles, Mix Brussels, and Food Society Paris. Studio Élémentaires has also partnered with Moët & Chandon, the Centre Pompidou, and the Grand-Hornu Design Center. Based at Zaventem Ateliers since 2018, the duo contributes to the collective’s spirit of excellence and innovation in collectible design.

Their work has been featured at Collectible Brussels, Milan Design Week, Art-O-Rama Marseille, and Material Mexico, and profiled in publications including IDEAT, ELLE Decor, and Yatzer. Alongside their practice, Apolline and Gauthier regularly lead workshops and teach at institutions such as the École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Appliqués in Paris and the Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts in Brussels.
